Kronos Incorporated announced on Tuesday the availability of its Workforce Mobile Scheduler, a mobile software solution aimed at improving the workforce productivity through easing the engagement between managers and employees that have various devices. According to the company, the new solution is meant to offer a higher degree of flexibility to managers when it comes to the interaction with employees and their workforce management system. Moreover, the company also says that the new solution has been designed to fit the needs of today's communications trends.

The new Workforce Mobile Scheduler offers managers a simple way of broadcasting “a text message to the mobile devices of employees who are qualified to fill an open shift,” Kronos states. As soon as a shift is accepted by the employee, it is automatically assigned, and a new message announces the employees that the shift has been filled. At the same time, the solution also updates the work schedule in the Kronos scheduling application. The new application is also meant to transform the process of filling open shifts from a time-consuming one to a fast and easily action, as it has been designed to leverage “the immediacy and responsiveness of mobile communications.”

Peter George, chief technology officer, Kronos, commented on the launch, “We are already seeing significant interest in Workforce Mobile Scheduler. Organizations appreciate that this is how the workforce of today communicates, and being able to engage with them via mobile technology saves time and increases productivity.” Josh Bersin, CEO and president, Bersin & Associates, added that Mobile Scheduler could be seen as an example of how innovation entered the HR area.

According to Mollie Lombardi, research analyst, human capital management, Aberdeen Group, the new Workforce Mobile Scheduler is capable of transforming scheduling from a process that was often paper-based and labor-intensive into a format that is as easy to use as a social networking website is. “For organizations with large, distributed workforces and an often tech-savvy employee and manager base, this tool has the potential to make the laborious and often tension-fraught task of making up a weekly schedule into something downright cool,” he concluded. The solution is already available for purchase in the US. Additional info on it can be found on Kronos' website.
