On Monday, Kronos Incorporated announced the launch of a new mobile application, the Workforce Mobile Scheduler. The new app is a scheduling software solution aimed at improving the workforce management in the future. According to the company, the new solution is capable of improving productivity through enabling managers easily engage with employees via a wide range of mobile phones.

“With Workforce Mobile Scheduler, managers can communicate with employees in an efficient, easy way,” stated Peter George, chief technology officer, Kronos. “Gone are the days of spending hours calling down a sheet of phone numbers trying to catch someone live to fill a shift, and then having to go back and re-call that list to let everyone know the shift has been filled. Now the same task can be accomplished in a fraction of the time, freeing managers from administrative burden and enabling them to focus on their primary job.”

The features list of the new application shows that managers can find it very simple to send messages to the employee's mobile phone, as long as the employee is “qualified to fill an open shift.” As soon as the shift is accepted, an automatic assignment is made, and the employee will receive a notification on the filling of the shift. At the same time, the work schedule is being updated in the Kronos scheduling application.

While the process of filling open shifts was seen both as a time-consuming and frustrating process until now, as it implied that managers would call the employees to resolve staffing shortfalls, the new Workforce Mobile Scheduler comes with great time saving for managers. The new application enables them to communicate faster and easier with the staff, as it benefits from the features of mobile communications.

Other enhancements the new application from Kronos comes with include the fact that it will also offer great flexibility in the interaction between managers and employees. Not only the new Workforce Mobile Scheduler is an easy-to-use application, but it has been also developed to fit the needs of today's communications. The new software solution is expected to become available in January 2010.
