The Calligra 2.9.5 open-source office suite for KDE desktop environments has been released earlier, as reported by Softpedia. The Krita digital painting software has been updated as part of the new Calligra release, and it is has a massive changelog.

According to the release notes attached at the end of the article, Krita 2.9.5 brings numerous new features, including a lightness curve to the per-channel filter, an "all-files" option to the file-open dialog, a brush preset history docker, a built-in performance logger, support for WebP on Linux systems, as well as support for saving and loading patterns used in layer styles.

It also adds support for author profiles, such as default, custom, or anonymous to .kra files, introduces a global light function to layer styles, adds support for saving and loading layer styles to PSD (Photoshop Document) files, and adds a new keyboard shortcut (CTRL+Shift+N) that allows users to edit or paste content into a new image.

Moreover, Krita 2.9.5 allows the saving of group layers to PSD files, add a pass-through switch for group layers, introduces a mypaint-style circle brush outline, supports the saving and loading of transparency masks to PSD groups, and supports the inheriting of alpha channels on all types of layers.

The new Krita update also adds layer styles actions and buttons to the Layer docker, brings a new collection of paintop preset tags, introduces on-canvas preview of the current color when the user attempts to pick colors, and implements a new keyboard shortcut (CTRL+F) for reapplying the previously used filter.

In addition to the numerous new features mentioned above, Krita 2.9.5 allows users to choose a profile for untagged images in the PNG file format, warns users of Intel graphics cards that their video driver might be out of date, and splits the configuration of cursors into two new sections, cursor selection and outline selection.
