After announcing the massive release of Krita 2.9.5 a couple of weeks ago, the hard working developers behind the popular open-source and cross-platform digital painting application published details about the first maintenance version of Krita 2.9.5.

According to the release notes, which have been attached at the end of the article for reference, Krita 2.9.5.1 is not a simple point release that fixes bugs and improves some functionality here and there. In fact, is an almost perfect feature release that brings numerous new features and addresses approximately 24 bugs discovered since Krita 2.9.5.

Among the new features implemented in Krita 2.9.5.1, we can mention the implementation of a composite RGB curve for the Curves filter, the addition of a Fish Eye Vanishing Point and Concentric Ellipse assistants, the ability to display memory consumption in the statusbar, support for creating a copy of the image that is currently open, as well as the addition of a one-way pressure sensor in the sensors.

Moreover, Krita 2.9.5.1 sees the addition of several options that allow users to configure the memory, as well as the location of the temporary scratch files, the addition of a profiler option, which is heavily documented at https://userbase.kde.org/Krita/Manual/Preferences/Performance, and improvements to the Settings dialog’s default button, so that it can only be used to set the defaults for the settings page that is currently selected.

"It’s been a while since we made a new build of Krita… So, here’s Krita 2.9.5.1! In all the hectics surrounding the Kickstarter campaign, we worked our Tails off to add new features, improvements and fixes, and that caused considerable churn in the code. And that, in turn, meant that the 2.9.5.0 was a bit, well, dot zero! So here’s a 2.9.5.1 with the following improvements,"

Over 20 bugs have been plugged from Krita 2.9.5

As mentioned, Krita 2.9.5.1 is also an important bugfix release that plugs over 20 issues that have been reported by users or discovered by the Krita develoers since the previous stable release of the software, Krita 2.9.5.
