For quite some time now, Kristin Davis, whom most people know best as Charlotte York from “Sex and the City”, has been doing her very best in lending a helping hand to those fighting against elephant poaching.

The celebrity now wishes to show her support for a new campaign aimed at safeguarding these animals, and asks that fans never buy items made from ivory.

More precisely, in one of her most recent interviews, the celebrity spoke in favor of elephant conservation and against the ivory market as follows: “Number one, never, ever, ever buy ivory. Because what they are doing is they are saying that it's antique. (…) No, no, no – they are faking it. They have taken it and rubbed it to make it look like it's old. So people are unwillingly supporting this illegal black market sale of illegal ivory.”

For those unaware, about three years ago, Kristin Davis personally helped rescue an orphan elephant in Kenya, and told Oprah all about her experience hoping to raise more awareness with respect to the threats this species is presently facing as a result of poaching.

This baby elephant, now named Chaimu, is still part and parcel of Kristin Davis' life, as the actress checks up on it on a regular basis.

The anti-poaching campaign which this actress is now supporting was launched on the 28th of September 2012, and Kristin Davis was the one to make the official announcements while at the DSWT (the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust) Harambee Gala Dinner in London.

As the official website for this DSWT iWorry campaign explains, “ (…) if we don’t all come together to stand up for elephants and add our voice to those fighting against the ivory trade, the African elephant species could be lost forever.”

Furthermore, “We want everyone who loves elephants to Say No to Ivory and stand up for elephants.”
