Now that Kristen Stewart has admitted to cheating on her boyfriend of 3 or 4 years Robert Pattinson with the married director of “Snow White and the Huntsman,” people are discussing the reasons that might have pushed her into his arms. It was self-sabotage, one relationship expert says. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson met and fell in love on the set of “Twilight” and, though they played it cool with the fans and the media for years about their romance, in recent months, they were no longer making an effort to hide.
On July 17, she
was photographed kissing Rupert Sanders, with whom she worked on “Snow White,” with later reports saying they'd actually been hooking up for
at least half a year.
Kristen was with Robert at the time, just like Rupert was married to model Liberty Ross, so they both cheated on their better halves.
One relationship expert believes that, at least in Kristen's case, it was a clear gesture of self-sabotage, an out of the ordinary way of getting out of a relationship she no longer had that much interested in.
“Kristen doesn't belong in a committed relationship. She's 22 years old,” Dr. Gilda Carle tells the US media, as cited by the
Daily Mail, arguing that Stewart is simply too young to be tied down to a single man, especially since her experience with boyfriends is limited only to him.
“She's been in a committed relationship for 4 years – much too young to making a commitment. She's a child. She did this very public thing with director in order to be found out. It was self-sabotage,” Carle further explains.
As she sees it – and she claims to have a lot of experience in this, having worked with countless other celebrities in the past – Kristen specifically chose a married man to cheat on Rob because she wasn't looking to jump into another relationship, she was simply seeking a thrill and a way out.
“She did it so she could have an easy out. But of course it wasn't thought through; she's very immature. She had no idea that this would be so transparent to everybody. It was important to her to know she was still attractive to other guys,” Carle says.
Despite reports that Pattinson has already moved out of the house, word has it that he might still forgive Kristen and take her back.
It would be a mistake if he did, Carle believes, because Stewart's gesture clearly proved that she wanted out of the romance.
“Obviously Kristen isn't looking for a relationship right now, so she picks a guy who is married. If Rob takes her back it will be more of the same. She was playing a role of a girlfriend who claimed that she was committed, but she wasn't committed. She just needs to grow up,” the expert says.
In
her statement to various media outlets after the incriminating photos came out, it sure sounded as if Kristen was literally begging Robert to take her back, so we wouldn't know what to say about the above claims that she was just looking for “a way out.”
