Kristen Stewart has joined the long line of celebrities speaking out on the death of “Sopranos” star James Gandolfini, who passed away recently of a heart attack in Rome, at the age of 51.

She and Gandolfini starred together in the critically acclaimed indie drama “Welcome to the Rileys” in 2010, in which she played a sort of wild (and lost) woman child he was trying to protect by taking her in.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Kristen says that she still can’t believe Gandolfini is gone.

“When I heard of James’ passing I was in New Orleans, where we met shooting, and every memory flooded back and gutted me,” she says.

“I’ll hold that time near to me forever. He was immeasurably great. My heart goes out to his beloved family,” the actress adds.

Gandolfini’s death has been ruled as “of natural causes” since toxicology tests indicated drugs and alcohol were not involved.
