Kristen Stewart and the rest of the cast of “Snow White and the Huntsman” arrived in London last week, to start rehearsals for the film, which was supposed to start shooting this Monday, August 15. She is now under police protection because of the ongoing riots in the British capital. The
Daily Mail, for one, reports that
Kristen and co-star Liam Hemsworth are in the care of six armed policemen, waiting for things to settle down so they can start working on the film.
Charlize Theron, who will play the Evil Queen in the film, hadn’t yet arrived in London at the time the riots started – and was presumably told afterwards to wait it out.
The Mail says there’s confirmation of this on Twitter.
“A friend of mine is stuck in London w/ #KristenStewart’s team. They JUST stopped #SnowWhite prep work until riots die down. #prayforlondon,” says one user.
One of the movie’s producers, Palak Patel, confirms that the production was supposed to start, but doesn’t say anything about whether it’s now on hold – or if it will remain so for much longer,
E! Online notes.
“We’re told that the shoot starts next Monday and, while buzz around the Internet says that production has stopped so that British ‘bobbies’ (aka police) can keep K.Stew under a watchful eye, we hear that August 15 is still set to be the first day,” the e-zine reports.
“It probably helps that the riots are happening in the heart of the city and SWATH production will take most likely take place in more rural locals (as dictated by the script),” E! further writes.
Kristen, Liam and Charlize made their first promo appearance for “Snow White” at
this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, where they also unveiled the first character posters.
Admitting that it’s a bit hard to talk about a project they still hadn’t started to work on, the three offered some insight into what fans are to expect from it: like a brave and feisty Snow White who isn’t afraid to wield a sword, and a story that has very little in common with the original fairy tale.
