Angelina Jolie is not returning to the sequel to “Wanted,” no matter how much her fans would love to see that happen. This has nothing to do either with the fact that her character died at the end of the first movie, but rather with a scheduling conflict, it has been announced. One possible replacement for Jolie is “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart, who said in a recent interview with MTV News that she would never pass such an opportunity.

Speculation about how Stewart was approached by the producers with an offer for the part has been around for many a week now, though nothing concrete has come out of it. Admittedly, after Jolie made it clear that she would not reprise the part of the daredevil assassin, they started brainstorming for an actress who could possibly fill in her shoes, which, in turn, sparkled talk about how they would be making a prequel – therefore, Stewart would play a young Jolie in the second film.

While that’s still to be determined, if anyone’s asking, Kristen is open to the idea, she says. “For the last few months, Kristen Stewart has been rumored to be the director’s pick to take over for Angelina Jolie as the female lead in a sequel to 2008’s ultraviolent ‘Wanted.’ While the ‘Eclipse’ star says she can’t confirm or deny the talk, she told MTV News it’s a project she wouldn’t pass on. ‘I mean, like, it’s weird to answer questions like this. The only two projects that I’m confirmed in now are On the Road and Breaking Dawn 1 and 2,’ Stewart hedged,” MTV writes.

Still, if anyone was to approach her with an offer for the part, she would certainly not turn it down because it’s definitely worth it. “Yes. Definitely, as long as it was good and I mean, it’s really exciting to see [that could be an opportunity]. ‘Wanted’ was a great movie, like, James McAvoy makes that movie different than most other action movies because he’s a real guy, and I feel like most action movies don’t have that. So if it had that [element], definitely. But I wouldn’t just want to be in a mindless, blow-up movie. I’m not into it,” the actress explains.

Until that happens, though (if ever), Kristen Stewart will grace the silver screen as moody high school student Bella Swan in the third installment in “The Twilight Saga.” “Eclipse” arrives in theaters nationwide in the US on June 30, and in the rest of the territories at about the same time.
