The other day, news broke that Kristen Stewart, star of “The Twilight Saga” and “Snow White and the Huntsman,” had cheated on her boyfriend of almost 3 years Robert Pattinson with the married director of her latest movie.

One celebrity publication even claimed to have photos of a romantic rendezvous that took place on July 17 and would put to rest speculation that this was nothing but a malicious rumor.

They showed Kristen Stewart kissing and embracing Rupert Sanders, who is twice her age and married with children, and who directed her in “Snow White.”

As insiders were telling other glossies that the affair wasn't really an “affair” but rather an indiscretion, both Kristen and Sanders were unavailable for comment.

This has changed these past few hours. Kristen Stewart has issued a statement to People magazine, owning up to the fling and publicly apologizing to Pattinson, of whom she says she never meant to hurt with her indiscretion.

“I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” the actress says.

“This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry,” the actress adds.

At the same time, Sanders too has admitted to the affair (or fling or whatever it was), saying in a separate statement he never thought of hurting his wife and his children.

“I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together,” Sanders says.

At this point, neither Pattinson nor Sanders' wife has said anything about the cheating scandal that may or may not be the cause of ruin for both relationships.
