Though she’s had blonde hair as well, fans know her best for her natural dark hair but, these days, former “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart is rocking an orange ‘do. She got her hair dyed the other day in New Orleans and broke the news of the makeover on social media.

The photo above was posted on the Instagram account of Maison de Cheveux, a famous hair salon from New Orleans, with the caption, “Kristen Stewart gettin her hair ready for a new role! #americamultra #awesomecolor #houseofhair.”

Kristen is shown flashing the peace sign, as she’s smiling into the camera. As usual, she’s not wearing any makeup and she’s wearing her hair to the side.

The change will probably last only for the duration of the production of her new movie, the action comedy “American Ultra,” which starts shooting this month and also stars Jesse Eisenberg and Uma Thurman.

This is the second time Kristen does something drastic to her hair as part of the requirements of a movie role, dyeing it pitch black and rocking a mullet in 2010, when she played Joan Jett in “The Runaways,” opposite Dakota Fanning.

Because production on that movie coincided with that on one of the “Twilight” installments, Kristen had to wear a brown wig for the latter, later describing the experience as very uncomfortable.

The Hollywood Reporter describes “American Ultra” as the perfect combination of action and irreverent humor, with Kristen playing the girlfriend of an “unmotivated stoner” (Eisenberg) living in a “small, sleepy town.”

“One night, their lives take an unexpected turn when Mike’s past comes back to haunt him, and he becomes the target of a government operation set to wipe him out. Simply put, American Ultra will be the most fun you can possibly have in a movie theater without the use of drugs, fireworks or canola oil,” THR says, quoting producer Anthony Bregman.

In an interview from January this year, Kristen said that, if it weren’t for her line of work, she’d experiment more with her hair, including getting a James Dean boyish cut. She also said that she’d always wanted to shave her head, and promised she would eventually.

“And then, I'm definitely going to shave my head before I die. I will definitely tattoo my head while it's shaved before my hair grows back. I'm not sure which part, probably the bottom quadrant in the back. I don't know what the tattoo would be, yet. Still thinking,” she said.
