Although they say there is not a woman (or only very few) who wouldn’t want to be Angelina Jolie at least for a single day, Kristen Stewart says she’s not in the game for fame and recognition. In a new interview, cited by
Us Magazine, the “Twilight” saga star explains how she wants to be an actress – but not necessarily a celebrity.
Stewart has repeatedly told the media she doesn’t take kindly on the excessive media attention, especially since she doesn’t really understand the whole “Twilight” frenzy. This time too, the star explains how acting is what she likes and how she can see herself doing it for many years to come. If it only were possible to do so without being a celebrity as well, then things would truly turn out the way she’d want them to.
“I don’t want to be a movie star like Angelina Jolie. Nothing about being a celebrity is desirable. I’m an actor. It’s bizarre to me that everybody’s so obsessive.” Kristen says as regards the Twilight phenomenon. She also says her love interest in the saga, Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson), is a good example of what happens once you’re famous. “Edward is actually a really good parallel to fame. As a vampire, he has a sad, desolate life – fame is the same.” the 19-year-old actress explains.
As we also noted on previous occasions, this is not the first time that Stewart speaks against fame. Touted as one of the best young actresses of the moment, this one particular star would rather people only paid attention to her work and none at all to her as a person. She grew up on the movie set and has been involved in making movies ever since she was just a little girl – it was only natural that she wanted to be an actress at that point, she
was saying a while back for Times Online.
“I’m glad I could do those films, and I was glad to leave school. I couldn’t relate to kids my own age. They are mean and don’t give you any chance. […] Once you have done with school, you realize it is just a smaller version of life. When I was there, I was never the type of girl to be walking around talking about acting, so I didn’t get a whole lot of hassle for that, until someone found out, until someone saw some old movie and realized. I was trying to play it down, but I definitely got, ‘Oh, she’s such a [expletive].’ They’d never spoken to me, but instantly they were, like, ‘You are so rude.’ I am not rude.” Stewart was saying of how being a star since young affected her life.
