Kristen Stewart has long been criticized for the way she handled herself in interviews and how she almost always managed to come across as awkward and fake. She's ready to put that behind her now. The “Twilight” actress has grown up a lot since she became an international superstar with the first film in the vampire saga.
Without claiming to be much improved, she's the first to admit that she's now getting the hang of it – and she does just that in a brand new interview for Glamour magazine, the December 2011 issue (transcript
here).
“That’s a fair assessment,” she says when the interviewer notes she's come a long way from the shy, awkward girl who didn't know what to do with herself during interviews back in 2007.
“I don’t think there was much behind it other than I was young, and expecting it, and trying way too hard to be ‘not fake’,” she says.
“When I was younger, I’d look around and see these people, even people I knew, start to do an interview and become a completely different person. I was always scared of being like that. Someone would [ask a question] and you could see my whole thought process on my face,” Kristen explains.
Another thing she doesn't do anymore is Google herself.
“Not any more, man. I do like to look at what I wear, though. It’s not like I put on a [expletive]-ing dress and don’t care about it after,” she says of her red carpet appearances, which are the only times she looks for images of herself on the Internet.
Kristen is now in the UK, filming “Snow White and the Huntsman,” a refreshing take on the story, which sees Snow White as some sort of warrior.
While in London, she's been spending her time with friends, going out and occasionally hitting the pup, which is quite a change for her since she no longer has to hide.
Kristen even says she prefers “British lads” to “jocks,” because, apparently, she's now enamored with everything British, even though she doesn't want to talk about rumored boyfriend Robert Pattinson anymore.
In the same interview, the actress also talks about the upcoming “Breaking Dawn” film, which arrives in theaters on November 18 and which will finally see leading characters Bella (Stewart) and Edward (Pattinson) getting married and consummating their love.
