In her upcoming book, “Kris Jenner... And All Things Kardashian,” Kris Jenner recalls the tragic killing of her best friend Nicole Brown-Simpson in 1994. Not only that, but Kris also claims she could have “saved” Nicole had she not been so busy, it has emerged. The
Daily Mail has a few quotes from the upcoming book and they clearly show that Kris believes it was in her power to save Nicole.
She and her friend Ron Goldman were found dead in 1994, after being stabbed repeatedly. O.J. Simpson, Nicole's husband, stood trial for the murder but was found not guilty, in what was the most mediated celebrity trial until then.
Kris says on the morning of what will turn out to be Nicole's last day, she reached out to her, practically begging her to meet because she had something “important” to tell her.
“Nicole said, Can you get over here...? I need to talk to you. It's really important,” Kris writes. She told her she was busy and that she couldn't meet her until the next day.
“That's okay, can you meet me tomorrow for lunch? I really have to talk to you about something really, really important. It would be the last time I would ever speak to Nicole,” Kris further says.
The next day, she woke up to news of the horrendous crime that had been committed – and the reality star vouches she had a very hard time imagining that O.J. could do something so terrible as that.
“I instinctively knew that in some way O.J. had something to do with her death. I truly couldn't believe she had been so betrayed by the person who she had once loved most,” she recalls.
Later on, she found out that she didn't have a single reason to doubt O.J. would do such a thing, when she learned why Nicole wanted to see her so badly: she wanted to show her proof of the abuse she'd been suffering for 17 years at the hands of her husband.
“Nicole had been beaten up by O.J. and she had been keeping this physical proof in the form of photographs and, it would turn out, other evidence, in which she had documented seventeen years of abuse,” Mrs. Jenner says.
“Nicole really wanted someone close to her to know what was going on, so that somebody – namely me – could be a witness. The realization that she had wanted to confide in me hit me so hard... And I had let her down,” she adds.
Call it irony, fate or the ultimate instance of hypocrisy, but it was Kris Jenner's first husband who actually helped O.J. escape jail, since he was his defense attorney in the trial.
