Kris Jenner Explains Decision to Put Kim Kardashian on the Pill at 14

Kris Jenner, matriarch of the Kardashian clan, came under some heavy fire earlier this week when video emerged of Kim Kardashian, arguably her most famous daughter, telling Oprah Kris put her on birth control when she was just 14.

Jenner was on Bethenny Frankel’s new talk show “bethenny,” for an interview that will air this Monday and, as expected, she also addressed this topic – but she also gushed a bit about Kim’s new man Kanye West.

“You want to protect your kids,” Kris tells Bethenny of the decision that came to be regarded as controversial, that of putting Kim on birth control at 14.

Like her daughter, Kris stresses that the two of them have always been very close, which meant Kim came to her and was “very honest” about her intention of sleeping with her boyfriend, whom she’s been seeing for 2 years at the time.

“What I did as a parent with all my girls, when I felt like it was that time in their life that they were going to that step... I drove as fast as I could to the gynecologist’s office,” Kris says.

“You can try and talk your kids out of it, but unless you lock your child in the closet and throw the key away, they’re going to do what they feel,” she adds.

Kris trusted the doctor to give Kim “the talk” because he’s the same person who helped her deliver “all” her kids. She also trusted Kim to do the right thing and be mature about it when the time came.

“So my philosophy has also been make sure your kids are healthy, well taken care of and educated,” Jenner says.

As for Kim’s new beau, old friend Kanye, Kris seems ecstatic with her choice of a man this time. She also jokes about having to start being nicer to Kim considering the birthday present she bought the rapper a short while back.

“Well, she bought him a very beautiful gift, but I don’t have any idea how much it cost,” Kris says, refusing to confirm ongoing rumors about how much Kim paid for the rare Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4.
