14 DAY TRIAL // They were married for just 72 days, but Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are having quite a hard time divorcing. In light of recent events, Kris' attorney is advising him to settle and stop trying to get Kim's money in the divorce, it has emerged.
As gossip lovers might now, Kim filed for divorce but Kris would rather he had the marriage annulled on claims of fraud. He's also looking to get money from the reality star, arguing she duped him into marrying her for ratings when he actually thought it was the real deal.
On the other hand, as early as January, Kris was already dating another woman, Myla Sinanaj – who now happens to be pregnant with his child.
Under these conditions, he can't really go to court and claim he needs compensation for the hurt Kim inflicted upon him by not giving their marriage a second chance.
Radar Online notes that Humphries' own attorney is well aware of their diminished chances in court, and is now urging him to settle the case, lest more dirt on him comes out to light.
“Kris' lies have severely damaged his divorce case against Kim Kardashian. If he had just been honest with his lawyer about his relationship with Myla, he wouldn't be in this position now,” a well-placed insider says for the e-zine.
In other words, because he lied and tried to cover up his relationship with Myla (including by trying to gag her with a NDA and then handing her over to the FBI by claiming she'd tried to extort him), he's blown his chance at getting any more from Kim.
“Kris is now being advised to settle with Kim and move on. Proving that the marriage was fraudulent, and he got duped into it will be a very, very hard argument to win at trial. Kris is still hell bent on going to trial,” the insider says.
“He wants to publicly humiliate Kim as much as possible. What Kris doesn't seem to grasp is that he could end up paying for Kim's legal fees if the judge rules against him. Kris needs to let go and move on, he says he has done so, but he clearly hasn't,” adds the spy.
Kim's attorneys have already served Myla with a citation to be deposed and, the moment she takes the stand, the world at large will know that Kris has been lying all along.
In the meantime, he also has to think about what he'll do next, assuming Myla's child is really his. Radar says he's informed her of wanting a paternity test, while TMZ notes that the two are probably reconciling as we speak.
