It’s competitive out there in the plus-size industry, she says

While brother Kris Humphries was making headlines for his 72-day marriage to reality star Kim Kardashian, his sister Kaela was negotiating her first ever modeling contract. She is now officially a plus-size model.

She is now signed with Ford Models, the plus-size division, and she has moved from Minnesota to New York to pursue her career in the industry, Vibe Vixen reports.

The e-zine also believes the media exposure Kris' marriage got is the reason Kaela got on the radar of the right people as well.

According to Kaela herself, she never imagined she could be a plus-size model but, now that she's gotten a first taste of what that's like, she's surprised the competition is so tight.

She is now the face of Limited's Eloquii line.

“I didn’t know about plus-size modeling, or that you could make a career out of it!” she says.

Before she signed with Ford Models, though, Kaela had to go on a diet to lose a few pounds and be a size 16, the preferred size for plus-size models.

Right now, she's focusing on maintaining her figure, which also implies steering clear of carbs late in the evening and working out two times a week.

Nevertheless, when she's getting cravings, she will not deny herself the occasional treat, going out for a burger or something sweet if that's what she feels like.

“It’s competitive out there there. Even if I am a plus-size model, I have to be in the best shape for me,” Kaela explains, as cited by the aforementioned publication.

Ford Models is already thinking of Kaela's career in terms comparable to that of Crystal Renn and Ashley Graham, two of the most famous famous plus-size models of the moment – Renn not so much today, having slimmed down to a tiny size 2 in recent months.

“A true size 16-18, Kaela will be in a league of her own,” the modeling agency says in a statement.
