14 DAY TRIAL // Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were married for one hot minute 72 days but, as of now, they’re still in the process of getting a divorce. His family is speaking out, with uncle Mike and aunt Dedria confirming that the marriage was, indeed, a sham.
Fans must know that Kim filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. In response, Kris filed for an annulment on the basis of fraud, saying Kim never intended for the marriage to last because she only went for the media attention that came with getting hitched.
Whether they get a divorce or an annulment is also important because of the iron-clad prenup they signed before tying the knot: a divorce means the prenup stands, while the annulment means it falls.
This, in turn, means that Kris can get half of the money Kim made during their short-lived marriage, while also being able to talk about their relationship to the press and badmouth her if he sees fit.
His family is telling The Sun that there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that the wedding and marriage was a sham, a PR stunt meant to make Kim richer and more popular, but which ended up by breaking Kris’ heart.
“It was a sham. My understanding of marriage is people are going to give it more than 72 days unless there’s serious abuse,” Kris’ aunt Dedria, from Michigan, who was one of the guests at the wedding, tells the British tab.
“If I felt somebody had duped me and used me in front of the whole world, I would be very angry. An annulment says it wasn’t valid in the first place. She should admit that it was a sham at the very least,” she adds.
Kris’ uncle Mike chimes in to state the obvious: yes, Kris is determined to have the skin off Kim’s back for the way she treated him, but his anger is justified.
“I can just see him wanting a pound of flesh back. I believe he wants payback,” he says.
Kris’ relatives also say that Kris Jenner, Kim’s mother and manager, definitely had a hand in planning the sham as well because that’s what she does: she exploits her family for money and fame.
“He wants to thump that mum — she uses people. I would dearly love for her to get thumped. She’s the mastermind. You can just see that’s the brains making that thing go. The wicked part is she’s using her family to make that thing. All of it’s really due to her,” they say.
Right now, Kim is eager to see the divorce finalized because she’s expecting her first child with Kanye West, her new boyfriend.
