14 DAY TRIAL // The entire world has been talking about Kim Kardashian’s revealing spread for Paper Magazine since the preview issue came out online earlier this week, but believe it or not, there is one man who couldn’t care less about it, hot or not.
That man is none other than Kim’s ex-husband (number 2), basketball player Kris Humphries. Asked in a recent interview how he felt about his ex taking all her clothes off for photographer Jean-Paul Goude, Kris tried to dance around the question – but ended up saying the spread is of no importance to him.
Kim can do her stuff, Kris doesn’t care anymore
At one point, when he was still with Kim and was featured on her reality show, Kris showed a measure of concern for the fact that she was in the spotlight so much, mostly because he had imagined she would want to “settle down” and cut back a bit on the exposure now that she was in a relationship.
That was before their bitter divorce. Today, Kris has moved on from the failed marriage completely, to the point where he no longer cares what Kim does, which makes sense, obviously. However, people can’t stop from noticing that he seems to be subtly dissing her in saying, “I’m not someone who’s paying attention to things that don’t really matter in my world.”
This was his response on Washington D.C.’s 106.7 The Fan with Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier, when he was asked if he’d seen Kim’s latest racy magazine cover.
He tried to cushion the blow a bit by adding that most of the time, he didn’t “even know what’s going on,” continuing that he was mostly focused on basketball and not much else. Kris doesn’t have time to keep up with celebrity gossip, even if that means checking out on social media or online his ex-wife’s recent photos, which have long gone viral.
Kim and Kris and the 72-day marriage
In the fall of 2011, just when people were thinking Kim had finally found happiness in the arms of Humphries, despite some fights documented on the family reality, Kim filed the divorce papers.
The news that she had decided to end the 72-day marriage to the basketball player was just as shocking as hearing that she actually filed the papers without even telling him about it. Kris Humphries, just like the rest of the world, found out about it in the media – so, back then, he still liked to keep up to speed with celebrity gossip.
Even worse, he had no idea of Kim’s intention, for which reason he spent the next several months trying to fight her request for a divorce, asking instead for an annulment on the grounds of fraud: he claimed that she had used him to get a ratings boost. Kim made millions off televising their wedding on a 2-part special on E!.
Kim fought back; she couldn’t give him the annulment because that would have meant admitting that she’d lied to her fans about the romance, and that she shamelessly planned it all to cash in.
Kim and Kris spent more time getting the divorce than they did married, and it is believed he walked away empty-handed (he also tried to get a chunk of the wedding money, but failed) and terribly frustrated. No wonder he calls Kim’s most recent stunt one of those “things that don’t matter.”
