Kris Humphries may have been the “victim” in the Kim Kardashian debacle, depending on who you believe, but his reputation still had a lot to suffer from the association with her. Just watch the video below to see why.

This week marked Humphries' return to court, after signing for one more year with the Nets. He may have landed an $8 million (€6.1 million) deal, but that's not to say everybody believes he's worth that kind of money.

On his return to Madison Square Garden, Humphries was booed by the fans, as the video below will show. However, he didn't bat an eye while it was happening.

Even the announcer said that the booing had nothing to do with his performance in court, being rather a result of his association with the Kardashian family.

Perhaps he anticipated this kind of reaction in his first post-divorce interview on Good Morning America where, as we also informed you at the time, he went out of his way to put the focus back on his career in sports and not on his reputation as a celebrity.

Billed his chance to address ongoing rumors about his marriage to Kim, the interview was a major disappointment in that Kris blatantly danced around all questions regarding the controversial union.

Instead, he only talked about his career in basketball, his charity foundation and his desire to spend more time with his family, now that the holiday season is upon us.

“I don’t really play into all the gossip and things that take place, but that’s life. I’ve been doing a lot of things with my foundation and spending time with my family and working on my game. Hopefully I’ll be on a team soon and get ready to go,” Humphries said at the time.

“For me, it’s just certain things happen in life and you’ve got to move forward. Through everything I’m just focused on family and preparing for basketball. Basketball has always been something I’ve taken really serious and I continue to do that and I’m just moving forward,” he added.

Word online said that he refused to talk about Kim because he was still without a contract. If so, it looks like the strategy paid off in the end.
