Kororaa 16, codenamed Chum, has been released. As the name implies, this Fedora-based distro has its origins in Fedora 16. As usual, Kororaa 16 adds several new packages and comes with plenty of tweaks aimed at creating a feature-complete out-of-the-box experience.

To that end, it comes with things like third-party repositories added by default, media codecs, a simple installer for Flash Player and so on.

"It was a little while in coming, but it was worth the wait! It is my pleasure to announce the release of Kororaa 16 (codename “Chum”) which is now available for download," the official announcement read.

Here's what to expect in Kororaa 16:

· Custom KDE 4.7 and GNOME 3.2 desktop environments along with their default packages; · Third-party respositories included by default, for Adobe, Chrome, RMPFusion, VirtualBox; · Firefox as the default browser, along with customizations for better integration with KDE; · Popular Firefox extensions included by default, Adblock Plus, DownThemAll, Flashblock, Xclear; · Microblogging client, Choqok for KDE, Empathy for Gnome; · Multimedia codecs pre-installed; · Installer for the Adobe Flash Player plugin; · The Jockey device manager for hardware drivers for graphic cards, wireless networking; · Kdenlive or OpenShot as video editors; · VLC media player; · SELinux enabled by default; · Dictionaries and support for Australian and British English.

There are several custom themes for GNOME 3.2 in Kororaa 16. There are also several extensions which expand on the built-in functionality. It also adds the GNOME Tweak Tool which enables users to modify the desktop further, to their liking.

Finally, for those still longing after GNOME 2, there is a link on the desktop to switch to the Fallback mode in GNOME 3, which resembles GNOME 2 in some ways. Kororaa 16 is available for download here on Softpedia.
