Internet Explorer is losing a few users in South Korea and a local browser is ready to capitalize on this and increase its market share.

According to a report published by Business Korea, Swing browser, an application created by Zum Internet, which in its turn is a subsidiary of EastSoft, recorded 1.7 million downloads in the last 6 months, which basically allows it to compete with market leaders Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

Market research firm Korean Click claims that the number of users of Swing browser exceeded 700,000 this March, with figures expected to grow in the coming months.

“Swing is a high-speed browser using a dual engine combining Web kit with the Trident engine, providing useful tools such as Quick Send and collaborating with our parent companies specializing in vaccines, which means it can deal with various security problems breaking out in Korea in the most swift and appropriate way,” Zum Internet said in the description of the browser.

Security experts are recommending Windows XP users to give up on Internet Explorer and try out a different browser, especially because this could guarantee enhanced protection and security, as third-party software companies are still rolling out updates for their apps. Microsoft, on the other hand, is no longer updating Internet Explorer on Windows XP.
