14 DAY TRIAL // Former NFL quarterback Kordell Stewart is filing for divorce from Real Housewives of Atlanta reality television star Porsha Stewart, reports say.
Hollywood Reporter clarifies that the former football player has filed the papers on March 22, after being married to the Bravo star for two years.
40-year-old Stewart is citing an "irretrievably broken" relationship as the cause for the split, and tells reporters that he and his wife are now separated.
M Starz adds that Stewart dismisses the option of paying Porsha spousal support, stating that she is able to support herself financially.
"[She's] an able-bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself," he describes.
The pair have not signed a prenuptial agreement, Real Housewives of Atlanta's Kandi Buress suggests in a blog entry from January in which she weighs in on the prenup issue.
"I hope Porsha and Kordell's marriage lasts for a lifetime, but I will say that I was shocked when she told me that they didn't do a pre-nup.
"I don't know why I was shocked, but I was. Some people like things the good ol' fashion way, and there's nothing wrong with that. To each his own!" Buress says.
RHOA's Nene Leakes has commented about Kordell 's controlling nature before news of the divorce broke, on her Bravo TV blog.
"I watch the show just like you do, so based off everything I’ve seen and heard myself, it appears that Kordell is talking to his daughter and not his wife! Porsha can’t seem to do much without getting permission from Kordell.
"I personally view a marriage as an equal partnership. I think you should treat each other with respect, consider each other’s needs, and support one another’s dreams and goals and work together as a team," she notes.
