Consumers are now able to use their PDA both as a tracking device and as a search device with the KoolTrax software bundle. The application allows users to see two phones or PDAs on a map and also gives them the possibility to administer the devices. Through the use of KoolTrax, anyone can transform a Windows Mobile handset into a real-time mapping and GPS tracking system.

The KoolTrax software bundle includes a software and login for KoolTrax Handset for mapping & tracking, a software and login for KoolTrax Mobile for tracking only, as well as software and login for KoolTrax PC for mapping and administration. One of the two devices would have the KoolTrax Handset software, showing its position on the map, as well as the position of the other phone, which would have KoolTrax Mobile software.

The KoolTrax provides live and continuous tracking, allowing users to see where the phone is at all times, while the included Blue Tree Systems' KoolTrax offers administration options for both phones. Moreover, users would also be able to set geofences, see the breadcrumb history or even set contacts for alerts from the phone. The PC software is designed to offer control over the phone tracking interval, alerts for alarms inside or outside boundaries, and can provide the tracking history for each device.

“We have for some time provided tracking systems for people who do not, or will not carry mobile phones. KoolTrax is a natural extension of this service. Anyone with a compatible phone can have tracking as an option, ready for every day use or trekking, climbing, sailing, or if they simply want to let their family know when they will be home. With this bundle they can give one of the software logins (say for KoolTrax Mobile) to their friend and see where they are when they are close. New versions for Blackberry and i-phone are planned for the end of January,” stated Mike Smuts, managing director of Blue Tree Services.

The KoolTrax software bundle features no limit to the number of KoolTrax trackers you can watch on your PC, comes with an alert button for emergencies, and includes boundary alerts and a breadcrumb trail history. The software can be used on PCs running Windows XP or Vista, which also feature an Internet broadband connection. The handset needs to run Windows Mobile 5.0 or higher, feature at least a 200mhz processor, 50 megabytes of memory, GPS on board, and be GPRS enabled. An annual software contract would cost £49. More information is available on the Blue Tree Services' website.
