More announcements to come

Konami seems to be preparing to take home the award for “Most Annoying Use of a Teaser Trailer.” The company has said for some time that it would be introducing a teaser site related to its next videogames.

Then, the same company introduced an ad in the highly popular Famitsu magazine in Japan and now the site is open for everyone to look at and, frankly, it's annoying to see that Konami has only announced that it was preparing for another announcement.

You can take a look at a screenshot of the site if you click on the image attached to the article and you will see pretty much everything Konami is ready to offer. There's also the occasional flash of lighting in the announcement, which seems to show a brief image that can either be a “5” as in Metal Gear Solid 5 or an S as in Metal Gear Snatcher.

The whole announcement seems to be lending a lot of credibility to the idea that the next game in the series which Konami and Kojima have made their flagship will feature Raiden, whose motif is thunder and lighting, as the main character. Of course, we might also be talking about a bit of re-direction on the part of the series creator, designed to make sure that the reveal of the main character is a true surprise.

Intrepid forum users from the NeoGAF community have taken a look at the site and determined that it is created so that it can host another four more countdowns, with the latest one ending on June 1, just before the beginning of the E3 trade show.

So, there is hope that an official reveal for the next game in the Metal Gear series is set to take place at E3, presumably with more information related to the main character putting an end to the rampant speculations.
