Over the past few days, some rumors about Metal Gear Solid 4 have been circulating the web. If we are to believe these rumors, we would have to say that Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4 won't be a PS3 exclusive.

Don't get all excited now, it won't come to PC or PlayStation 2, but to the Xbox 360, at least that is what the rumors say. In a recent CVG material, Konami representatives debunked these rumors and confirmed that Metal Gear Solid will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. At least for the moment.

Here is their original statement so you can judge for yourself: "Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time". If we are to analyze this statement, we would realize that in fact, Metal Gear Solid 4 won't be a PS3 exclusive forever. I guess that Konami is currently developing an Xbox 360 version, and will probably release it in a couple of months or so. Again, these are only speculations!

The game is set in 2015, six years after the incidents in Metal Gear Solid 2 (the Manhattan incident). We see a world which is no longer controlled by the military, but mercenaries groups are controlling things. They offer their services to the highest bidder, so there is a strong need for private military contractors or PMCs.

A specific release date for this Konami stealth-based game is yet to be announced, but it is certain that the game will have online multiplayer support. It will probably turn out to be great, as Kojima Production is responsible for it. Judging by their work up to this point, including all the Metal Gear Solid installments so far and the Zone of the Enders series, we can say that this one will be a success.
