The decision to de-list the 2D fighting game has already been approved by Sony

Lab Zero, the 2D fighting game's developer, says that Konami, the game's original publisher, has asked Microsoft and Sony to remove Skullgirls from their services.

An official post on the Skullgirls forums reported that Lab Zero only found out about the impending takedown when someone from Sony contacted the studio, which was after the takedown request had already been approved, meaning the decision is probably final.

The post also noted that Autumn Games parted ways with Konami last month, with the developer currently working on a new Skullgirls game to be published by Autumn only.

According to the Skullgirls forums, the de-listing will take place on December 17 and December 31, respectively. Lab Zero is currently unsure whether players will still be able to play their copies online, once that happens.

The game will, however, still be available in Japan, as it was not published by Konami over there, Polygon points out.

Konami and Autumn published the game on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade during the spring of 2012, followed by a Windows version launched in August 2013. The game was also planned to be brought to Japanese arcades.
