Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is one of the most highly awaited titles of the coming year and the development team at Kojima Productions has been offering more details about it during the recently concluded Tokyo Games Show 2014, telling fans about the core mechanics of the experience and the way the main elements of the franchise are changing.

A fan Twitter account has been translating plenty of information and says that Hideo Kojima has confirmed that all the companions included in the open world experience will be able to die during missions, including the newly revealed dog and the horse Snake is riding on, and there’s no way to bring them back other than simply reloading.

Quiet, the character that has been emphasized so far in the promotional campaign, will be able to scout ahead for the player in missions and can be called upon to offer cover fire and to throw grenades.

The dog included in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain can also move around undetected and pinpoint enemies.

Apparently, up to four buddies can come on a mission and Ocelot will be one of them.

Gamers will have options and can easily choose wrong

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will allow gamers to explore the world however they want to, and that means they can actually choose to jump from the helicopter that’s taking them to the insertion point, which can result in their death.

As the game progresses, the equipment that Snake has access to will be upgraded and there are plenty of options to choose from whem it comes to what the team back at Mother Base is working on.

A number of walls in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain can be used for climbing and the new prosthetic arm that the main character has will get new abilities based on the play style of the gamer.

Hideo Kojima says that the new Fox Engine that his team created is allowing him to create all the ideas that he developed during the past 27 years of working on the franchise.

He also explains that gamers who have completed Ground Zeroes will get something extra in the new title, but he is unwilling to offer details at the moment.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is expected to arrive in 2015 on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and last-gen consoles.
