The Prime Minister of Nepal, Girija Koirala, was expected to deliver quite an important speech in parliament on Tuesday, in order to highlight the new policies his government is going to adopt in the following year, yet it was postponed due to his poor health condition, Reuters informs.

Nevertheless, in an interview with Reuters news agency, a spokesperson for the House of Representatives, Subas Nemwang, who met the Nepali premier while he was in hospital, 84 year old Koirala will deliver his speech on Sunday. "We think he will be able to attend the parliament on Sunday and make the historic address".

The latter has been rushed to the Gangalal Heart Centre in Kathmandu on Sunday, at the intensive care department after he had started having chest problems. Although his condition seems to have been restored to normal, the doctors declared that Koirala needs to remain in hospital for at least two days.

Koirala's family declared that he has had quite a few problems concerning a chest infection in the right lung and he needs rest in the following days. If he is in condition to make the speech on Sunday, he will be the first Prime Minister to make such an address following the end of king Gyanendra's regime.

Yet, ever since he was appointed a Prime Minister, Koirala is not credited with many public appearances due to his poor health that keeps on manifesting differently each time. For example, his swearing in ceremony was delayed a few days due to bronchitis. He has also undergone prostate surgery in Bangkok last month.
