This one is likely to be a ZaTab competitor especially on price

Giant Australian online retail store Kogan has just introduced the new Agora 10” tablet version, on its official website. This one comes with 8 GB of internal storage, but the price might surprise anybody – just 179 USD.

That would be around 140 EUR for the European tablet lovers and, for just 20 USD more, you can get the 16 GB version. That’s 160 EUR for the 16 GB storage capacity model.

The processing power is quite modest, as only a single core ARM Cortex A8 processor running at a frequency of 1.2 GHz won’t be able to offer much.

The 10” screen provides a modest 1024 x 768 resolution in a 4:3 format.

We welcome the 4:3 format, and we accept that the resolution must be kept moderate in order not to stress the modest GPU too much and result in a stuttering experience.

Both models come with 1 GB of RAM and, while we would have liked to see more, we still like the small price better than more system memory.

Agora is running the new Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” operating system just like ZaTab that we’ve reported on earlier here.

Unlike ZaTab, the new tablet comes with a limited connectivity set that only has Wireless G, HDMI, a 3.5mm output jack, a microSD card slot and an USB connector.

We won’t complain at all about the Wireless G, as this feature is exactly in line with the processing power of the main CPU.

Unfortunately, Kogan doesn’t specify the resolution of the back video camera. The front webcam is 2 MP.

The producer claims 8 hours of battery life for Agora and, considering the CPU is quite modest, we tend to believe it will archive at least 6 hours.

The first shipments are slated for the 25th of June 2012.
