Today, handset vendor Kogan announced the upcoming availability of a 5-inch Agora smartphone powered by a quad-core processor and priced at only £149 ($240 / €177).

The new device is capable of delivering a 1280 x 720 pixel HD resolution, while its 1.2GHz quad-core CPU should deliver appealing performance capabilities to users.

Furthermore, the new mobile phone arrives on shelves with Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top, and with a 2000mAh battery packed inside.

The specifications list of the device also includes an 8-megapixel camera on the back, and a 2MP front camera for making video calls.

The new Kogan Agora smartphone packs 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, while also offering support for two SIM cards at the same time.

The mobile phone was also announced with support for 3G Tri-Band (850/1900/2100) frequencies, as well as with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. It sports a build-in GPS receiver too.

According to Ruslan Kogan, founder and CEO of Kogan, mobile phone users in Britain deserve an affordable smartphone that can still provide a great experience.

“Some big tech companies think they can launch a phone for the budget-conscious consumer and still price it at over £450 ($720 / €530). At Kogan, we know better,” he said.

“We think everyone should be able to afford a great smartphone that has all the main features that you want, without paying for features you don't need.”

“The launch of our first smartphone at CES this year was a roaring success, with many calling it the best bang for buck in the world. But, we know we can do even better. We've taken all the feedback we received and poured it into this new design,” he concluded.

The new Kogan Agora Quad-core Smartphone is available for purchase exclusively through Kogan’s website.
