Resembling the HTC Magic

According to the latest news, Melbourne-based Kogan Technologies plans to release into the wild its first mobile phone running under Google's Android operating system before the end of the ongoing year. Ruslan Kogan, the company's founder, is reported to have stated that the handset should come to the market after the “industry red tape” is bypassed.

The maker, as many of you might know, already tried to release an Android mobile phone, the Agora, which was delayed/slashed due to a series of technical issues. “A major company that doesn't want us to release [the Android phone] is creating red tape... others expect that this will clear and are looking to release by the end of this year,” Kogan stated, reports TechWorld.

In addition, the company's founder also said that the Android handset “will be similar to the [HTC] Magic,” and that it would sport a large multi-touch screen. The HTC Magic, the second Android handset in the world, was released into the wild at the beginning of May, and is expected to come to a wider range of markets in the near future.

It seems that there will be a wider range of mobile phone makers coming to the market with their own Android-based handsets, yet this was somehow expected, as Google itself announced not too long ago that a large number of Android phones should be available this year.

Even so, it will be rather interesting to see what companies will choose the Android ship. We already know that HTC, Samsung, Motorola, LG or Sony Ericsson plan Android devices, as well as smaller phone makers like Huawei and ZTE. At the same time, carriers like T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange, Rogers and others also plan on releasing such handsets, which means that Kogan's phone running under Google's platform might land on some of them as well.
