Kogan, the well-known Australian retailer of consumer electronics, has just released yet another Android smartphone that promises to offer decent features at a fair price.

The newly introduced Kogan Agora 4G does indeed have decent specs, but price-wise it remains to be seen how competitive it will be against other mid-range handsets that offer 4G support, such as the LG F3 and Motorola Moto G 4G (arriving next month).

According to Kogan, the Agora 4G will soon be available for purchase in Australia for $230 (€160) outright, although customers can already pre-order the smartphone via Kogan’s webstore.

In order to make the mid-range smartphone more appealing to customers, Kogan also offers free shipping to those who pre-order the smartphone until July 29 at 2 am.

Now that we know how much Kogan Agora 4G costs, let’s see what it has to offer in terms of specs. First of all, customers may want to know that the handset is fully compatible with the following network bands: 2G (EDGE) 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, 3G 850 / 900 / 2100 and 4G LTE Cat 4 700 / 900 / 1800.

Even though we did not expect it, the Agora 4G will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, which is really a nice surprise considering Kogan’s previous history of launching devices powered by older versions of the OS.

Furthermore, the smartphone is equipped with a decent 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. More storage can be added (up to 64GB) via the microSD card slot.

Another positive aspect about the Agora 4G would be the 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

On the back, the smartphone packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper that features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while on the front there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

When it comes to connectivity, Kogan Agora 4G offers a wide range of options, including 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR and GPS with A-GPS. It’s also worth mentioning that you will need a microSIM in order to be able to use this smartphone.

Last but not least, the Agora 4G has been confirmed to drain energy from a high-capacity 2520 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. Speaking of which, the Agora 4G is manufactured by BenQ.
