14 DAY TRIAL // The Kodi development team has announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the RC (Release Candidate) version of the upcoming Kodi 14.2 media center software for GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Android, iOS, Apple TV, and Raspberry Pi. This release brings a bunch of fixes that aim to improve the stability of the application on all supported platforms.
According to the release notes, Kodi 14.2 RC1 fixes an issue with Microsoft Windows that caused the app to no longer respond, fixes gapless playback issues with the MP3 file format, addresses some playback issues with the RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol) protocol, can now handle the FTPS (FTP Secure) protocol, saves weather location correctly, and it can now correctly filter third-party add-ons.
Additionally, the Kodi 14.2 RC1 release now replaces ChangeTime with LastWrite for file system under the Microsoft Windows operating system, supports Mac OS X SDK 10.10, can scan newly added episodes, repairs multipath source scanning issues, fixes some issues with loading external subtitles in various situations, addresses a bunch of bugs discovered in the PVR (Personal Video Recorder) add-ons, fixes packaging of the PIL module for Android, and repairs video playback issues that occurred after changing the refresh rate.

“14.2 will become the the second and final bug-fix release in the Helix range. As we have mentioned in our Kodi 14.0 release announcement, we will be releasing these extra releases to squash down any issues left after the first big release,” was stated in the official release announcement for Kodi 14.2 RC1. “Finally, the bug that haunted us in the 14.0 and 14.1 release has been solved. Windows should be stable again and perform as it should.”
