The Kodi development team, through Nathan Betzen, had the pleasure of announcing today, March 28, the immediate availability for download of the second and last maintenance release for Kodi 14 (codename Helix), before they continue with the development cycle for the upcoming release, Kodi 15, dubbed Isengard.

The release notes for Kodi 14.2 are identical with those from the Release Candidate version announced by Softpedia two weeks ago, such as a bugfix for an issue with the Microsoft Windows operating system that caused the app to become unresponsive, fixes for gapless playback in MP3 files, as well as fixes for RTMP playback issues.

Kodi 14.2 now offers support for the FTPS (FTP Secure) protocol, correctly saves weather location and filters third-party add-ons, offers support for Mac OS X SDK 10.10, addresses some issues with the PVR (Personal Video Recorder) add-ons, adds LastWrite instead of ChangeTime for Windows file systems, and automatically scans newly added episodes.

“We are proud to announce Kodi 14.2. This marks the final point release before we move on to Kodi 15 “Isengard,“ says Nathan Betzen. “As you may all know by now, we have a new name, a new logo, and a wide variety of new features, but underneath the new coat of paint remains the same software we all love. 14.2 is the the second and final bug-fix release in the Helix range”

Additionally, we can mention that Kodi 14.2 repairs multipath source scanning issues, correctly packs the PIL module for Android, addresses a video playback issue that occurred after changing the refresh rate, and fixes various issues with loading of external subtitles in certain conditions.
