Klemens Kundratitz, the chief executive officer of Koch Media, says that his company did not try to start a controversy with the recent Dead Island: Riptide Collector’s Edition, which features a destroyed but bikini clad female torso.

The executive tells GamesIndustry.biz that, “I can tell you one thing: it was not manufactured. We aren't looking for that type of publicity.”

Kundratitz believes that the Dead Island intellectual property has managed to gather a lot of goodwill from the player community and that it will survive the recent Riptide controversy.

He adds, “Sometimes you just have to admit to yourself and your community that it wasn't appropriate.”

Riptide has launched this year and will introduce quite a bit of new content, including a new island to explore, with new zombies to fight and a new character added to the cast.
