Kobo is bringing its affordable device portfolio into the country

Device manufacturer Kobo has just partnered up with the Eason bookstore chain in Ireland, in order to bring its products across the country.

The agreement extends over 60 Eason retail locations across the country. As soon as next month, customers walking in the stores will be able to grab the Kobo e-Readers and tablets from there.

Managing Director at Eason & Son, Conor Whelan commented news.

“After reviewing a number of different options for the business we are delighted to partner with Kobo in offering our customers the best platform we believe for content and device. The partnership is a key component to our digital strategy and will ensure that Eason remains a leading retailer of physical and digital books in Ireland.”

“This partnership with Kobo will allow our customers to explore a vast digital catalogue at home or on the go. The devices will be available to buy in local Eason stores where our terms will be on hand to help you when buying your new Kobo device.”

What are the exact devices customers are going to be able to purchase in the Eason locations? For starters, there’s the Kobo Glo eReader, which uses E Ink technology and comes packing a no-glare XGA HD 6” E Ink screen. It can be purchased for €130 / $176.

The Kobo Aura is another eReader, this time featuring a high-resolution, edge-to-edge display. The device also packs in the Kobo ComfortLight technology that allows the display to be evenly lit, thus achieving a perfect reading experience day or night. Customers can have it for €150 / $205.

The Kobo Aura HD offers the best resolution from the whole line with 1440 x 1080 pixel density offering a crisp and clear reading experience. The price is set for €170 / $232.

Last but not least, shoppers will be able to grab the Kobo Arc 7 tablet as well. The slate is powered by A MTK 8125 Quad-Core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels is very well suited for readers. Shoppers can grab the Kobo slate for €150 / $205.

Kobo has also created a so-called satellite office in Ireland, thus constructing an adobe for programmers to work at enhancing and customizing its online store experience.
