If you miss the good old games and you’d like to be able to play them on modern devices like tablets/eReaders, you might be interested in knowing that the Kobo eReader has been tweaked to allow the revival of Infocom games.

A hacker on the MobileRead forum, going by the alias of BigBoot has posted a version of the Frotz emulator which has been tweaked to be able to support Kobo eReaders, so now owners of the devices can play games like Zork on it.

Let me share a little bit of history with you here. Zork is one of the earliest interactive fiction computer games and its first version dates back to 1977-1979. Zork is set in the ruins of an ancient empire lying underground and the player must return from the great darkness alive and with treasures.

Zork is a text-based adventure that utilizes tantalizing adjectives to create a sense of the world the player is navigating. Definitely not what most modern gamers are used to, but for those willing to bring back the past, playing this game will be a welcomed trip on memory lane.
