Not as easy to root as the Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet, but possible none the less

Although not as popular as the Kindle Fire or the Nook Tablet, the Kobo Vox has also received some attention from the hacking community, which has recently managed to root the device.

The process isn’t as straight forward as it’s the came with its competitors and there’s no guarantee of success, but Liliputing reports that this is indeed possible.

The good news however is that going through the process described on the XDA-developers forum will get you access to the thousands of third party apps available in the Google Market, in addition to the official Kobo Vox software.

Built as a competitor for the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet, the Vox is also a 7-inch tablet which runs the Google Android OS and some custom eReader software, but compared to its peers it uses a slower processor and has received some less positive reviews.
