Spotted several weeks ago, Kobo's Vox tablet has just been introduced and is now available for purchase for only $199.99 (145 EUR).

However, customers who want ot purchase one of the cheapest tablets available in Canada should know that orders start shipping on October 28.

Advertised as an e-Reader, Kobo Vox comes with a 7-inch AFFS+ capacitive touchscreen with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, which is optimized for reading outdoors.

Unfortunately, the tablet runs Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, and it's unlikely that the slate will receive a Honeycomb upgrade.

There's no mentions of access to Android Market either, instead Kobo offers “over 15,000 hot music, video and game apps” via its own store.

In addition, Kobo Vox comes pre-loaded with popular social networking apps like Facebook, as well as RDIO.

Users will be able to read thousands of popular magazines from Zinio, as well as newspapers from around the world from PressReader.

With Reading Life app, users can track their personal reading stats, earn fun awards for reading, and share favorite passages with their friends via Facebook and Twitter.

The slate also features Kobo Pulse application that allows users to check out what their friends are reading.

According to Kobo, the tablet is delivered with a free bundle that comprises 3 glossy color books, 12 magazines and 7 newspapers.

The tablet measures 0.53 x 5 x 7.57-inches and weighs 14.2 ounces (400g, battery included), and looks pretty compact and light.

Kobo Vox packs 8G of internal memory, which should be enough for more than 5,000 books and 20,000 songs. Moreover, users can expand storage via microSD card slot up to 32GB.

The device features Wi-Fi connectivity and a battery that should provide up to 7 hours of continuous usage.

The tablet is available in four colors: Jet Black, Ice Blue, Hot Pink and Lime Green.
