Back in April, Kobo announced the Aura HD, a luxury e-reader that accounts for 25% of the company's global sales now.

Now, the same company has released the Aura, a smaller model, measuring 6 inches but still featuring a LED backlight.

The device runs on a 1GHz Freescale i.MX507 processor and a battery with a charge life of two months (30 minutes of reading a day with the Wi-Fi switched off).

That's right, Wi-Fi is available, for more book downloads.

Other specs include 4 GB of onboard storage, a microSD card slot, useful software beyond the regular book reading capabilities (11 different fonts, 24 sizes, and various weight and sharpness adjustments, note taking, highlighting, finding definitions, sharing favorite passages on Facebook, etc.).

Kobo Aura is up for sale at $150 / €150. Sounds like a lot, but the company feels that the Aura HD showed people are willing to “pay for the experience.”
