A new tool designed to give you a Twitter personality profile

Twitter is the hot web property at the moment and everyone wants a piece of the action even if they may not have anything to do with the microblogging platform. While a feature like Twitter updates showing up in Yahoo Messenger makes some sense and could be useful, the new “Know Your Mojo” website the company just launched is a bit of a stretch but could provide a few minutes of entertainment.

“As Twitter becomes more mainstream, everyone and their mother (and grandmother… and mayor… and daytime TV host) is trying their hand at the tweet. But what they might not realize is that how you use Twitter can say a lot about you,” Yahoo's Nicki Dugan wrote. “[W]e’ve launched a new tool that helps you analyze your social mojo. Just enter your Twitter username and our highly scientific pipe thingy goes to work to determine exactly what kind of Twitter persona you possess.”

Know Your Mojo is basically a profiling tool, not that there's a shortage of those on the Internet, aimed at finding out what type of Twitterer you are. The site comes with a cute colorful Flash animation, very appropriate considering its nature, asks for your name and then provides you with a nice little profile short enough to tweet it to your friends. There are 16 different personality types profiled, from the Lone Wolf - “You’re more of a low-profile type (some might even accuse you of lurking)“ - to the Crowd Pleaser - “You use lots of hashtags and are in on all the hot conversations.”

While it does provide some entertainment value, some are finding it less than accurate. But scientific precision wasn't exactly high on the list when Yahoo designed the site as its main purpose is to promote the new Yahoo homepage and what better way to do that than to jump on the Twitter bandwagon.
