Just a rumor... but what a rumor!

In the games industry rumors are the best way to get new information. Very few "unverified" leaked materials have proven to be false and most of the time the "no comment" response from publishers and developers fuels naive minds. Knights of the Old Republic franchise has been proclaimed one of the best RPGs on the PC and a KOTOR 3 sequel is presumably being developed already. Now do you see why rumors are the best?

Following the hot trail of this new info I managed to find a source called Primotechnology.com which supposedly has a close friend that is somehow related with the cousin of a drinking buddy of a Bioware employee. Being a rumor, it is hard to establish the real source and at this point it is quite irrelevant who (s)he is. Besides the name itself, they appear to have other interesting facts as well, like the place of birth, which is the Austin studio of Bioware and a name: James Ohlen (a dude that has his name attached to some very important games like Baldur Gate I & II, the first Knights of the Old Republic and Neverwinter Knights). The fact that KOTOR 3 is meant to be MMORPG is certainly not good news as no MMO based in the Star Universe has managed to make its way into the profitable category.

Probably the most notable aspect to be followed in the near future is related to the acquisition of Bioware by Electronic Arts. The rights for any game based on the Star Wars franchise are owned by Lucas Arts. I don't think they've sold anything to EA because I'm not sure that EA couldn't even afford a little planet in that universe. In other words, in case this turns out to be real I would really like to see whether EA will publish a game that it's partially owned by Lucas or they will be forced (or already have been forced) to let this one slide.
