Footwear is among the few things that can truly turn what would otherwise be a dull outfit into a genuine piece de resistance, as the French would say. This is precisely why we must never overlook it, and why we have to pay as much attention to it as we can. And, this fall, the stars are telling us that boots are the hottest accessory.

Knee-high boots have been a constant presence on the scene of fashion for as long as we can remember and, as a general rule, their “peak” moment is not during winter, as one might expect, but in fall. Clearly, boots are far from being the useful and practical accessory they once were, as the industry has helped them become some sort of statement: a woman wearing boots with a dress with a classic cut is no longer a pariah that must be discouraged by fashion watchdogs from such wicked practices, but a trendsetter who gets to say what can and can’t be done.

Speaking of trendsetters, Tinseltown also has a couple of its own and, this autumn too, they come to tell us that boots (military style, more specifically) should be the next item on our to-buy list. Rihanna, Sienna Miller, Lindsay Lohan and Mischa Barton are just some of the famous women who have already started donning boots with almost every other outfit imaginable.

The colors remain the same as until now, meaning we won’t get to see the chromatic revolution we’ve witnessed in bags and scarves just a few months back, but, instead, stick to black and various shades of brown. As for the styles available, they can range from military style, to old-fashioned (a reminiscence of the late ‘80s) and casual chic. However, what’s more important, we should bear in mind that boots are just the thing to bring some life into outfits that we’re already tired of, as well as our very own way of making a statement. So, go ahead, match them with knitted pants, leggings or shorts, jeans, skirts or dresses – they are bound to make a long lasting impression on whoever lays eyes on you.
