A kitten no older than one month is now struggling to stay alive after someone set it on fire and abandoned it in a park in Philadelphia.

Veterinarians say that the feline suffered burns on roughly 30% of its body. However, they are confident that, with their help, this male kitten will eventually manage to pull through. Daily Mail says that the cat is currently kept in the intensive care unit, and that it is being given both pain medicine and appropriate treatment for its wounds.

Meanwhile, both the SPCA and local authorities are trying to figure out who was responsible for this act of animal cruelty. It is believed that the kitten was burned somewhere close to the McPherson Square Park.

Authorities are asking that those who might have any information contact them immediately and help them catch the culprit.
