The update should start arriving OTA in a matter of days

Owners of a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone on the network of wireless carrier Verizon can now download and install a new Android 4.4 KitKat update on their devices, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

However, it appears that the new release is available only via the Samsung Kies desktop application or through the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant.

Basically, this means that those who are interested in installing the new update should download and install the Kies app on their computers first.

However, they will also be able to do so through the aforementioned Software Upgrade Assistant (SUA). As droid-life notes, those interested in making the move this way should head over to this page on the carrier’s support website to learn more on the process.

Unfortunately, the wireless operator hasn’t provided official info on the availability of the new firmware upgrade as of now, and it remains to be seen when exactly it will start arriving over-the-air as well (usually that happens one or two days after the firmware lands in Kies).

No info on the enhancements included in the update has been provided as of now either, though it might not be too long before Verizon publishes a changelog for it, so stay tuned to learn the news.
