Unhappy fans have been pulling together on several websites, sharing their experiences

Back in September, the “Win Your Nexus 7 tablet” with Android KitKat chocolate bars contest arrived in India, much later than in other countries.

Nevertheless, Indian Android fans were happy to get their chance of winning a brand new Nexus 7 2013 edition tablet. Or at least that’s what the KitKat official website advertised (see picture.)

But it turns out contest winners did not receive the second-generation Nexus 7 prize after all. Instead, it appears fans were awarded the old 2012 model. This upset quite a few Android supporters, so they started a Facebook group that now collects user experience and promo materials used in the deceptive campaign.

More than that, winners in other countries were awarded the Nexus 7 2013, fair and square. So why were Indian customers left out in the cold by Google?

The KitKat India Twitter account eventually posted a reply to the numerous complaints by saying “Winners got the Nexus7 tabs available in India in Sept (contest date). The new version launched only in Nov.”

But this silly response only managed to put some more wood on the already ranging fire, which is quite understandable. Google would have probably never pulled this off in America.
