Android 4.4 KitKat, the latest flavor of Google’s mobile operating system, won’t arrive on all devices out there, but users can now customize their smartphones and tablets with an interface similar to that of the platform, courtesy of the KitKat Launcher+.

The mobile application, currently available for download as version 1.0.9, has been compiled straight from AOSP, and is capable of offering the benefits of the KitKat launcher to more users.

“KitKat Launcher+ focuses on clean and stable features that keep true to the stock KitKat experience. Great customization without having to deal with all the bloat commonly found in other launchers. Guaranteed to be fast and smooth,” the app’s developer notes.

The software packs a wide range of features, including the option to hide the Google Search Bar, or the possibility to change the grid size.

Furthermore, the new launcher has been released with the option to enable a set amount of screens (does not automatically remove empty screens), as well as with the possibility to change icon size (revert back to pre-KitKat size).

In addition to these features related to the screen, the software includes a series of options regarding the drawer, including ability to change grid size.

Moreover, users will be able to set the launcher to automatically center the homescreen, while also allowing them to configure a specific behavior when the home button is hit.

The application comes with a series of advanced features as well, including the possibility to back up and restore settings, as well as access to App Ops to manage app permissions. More features are expected to make it inside the software soon.

All in all, those who would like to put Android 4.4 KitKat looks on their older devices should consider downloading this app, especially since it is free.
