Kirstie Alley switches diet and ups calorie intake to prevent further DWTS mishaps

Kristie Alley is no longer eating: not because she’s deliberately starving herself, but because she forgets to eat. After 2 more falls suffered doing rehearsals for the Argentine tango, the actress has decided to up her calorie intake to prevent further mishaps of the kind.

When she agreed to do Dancing With the Stars, the actress admitted that she was hoping to lose some weight thanks to the long rehearsal hours and her diet.

As it turns out, her diet was not appropriate for the amount of exercise she gets on a daily basis, so she’s changing it a bit, by adding more calories a day, EW reports.

While rehearsing for the Argentine tango (which also brought her and Maks their very first ten since they’re a pair on the current season), Kirstie fell down twice, as the video below will show.

The second time it happened to her she could have actually been hurt because she jumped over three steps and landed on her backside.

She told Maks that her 1,400-calories diet was probably making her very unsteady on her feet. To EW, she admits that she’s taking his advice and upping the calorie intake to 2,000.

“That rehearsal day was long, like seven hours or something. I didn’t realize I had forgotten to eat. I didn’t realize it was 5:30. I had breakfast, but time went like that because we had two dances to learn,” the star tells the e-zine.

“[Maks is] probably right. Usually what I do to lose weight, I eat 1,400 calories, but I guess if I’m working out five or seven hours then you have to change it around a little bit,” Kirstie admits.

While she’s open about losing a lot of weight since on the show, Kirstie will not say just how many pounds she’s shed.

However, a single look at her figure now should suffice to convince any dieter of the wonders of an intense and sustained workout.

Check out Kirstie and Maks’ Argentine tango in the video below. Enjoy.
