Of all the celebrities to make a second career out of losing weight, Kirstie Alley is perhaps the most successful, and at the same time, the one who gets the most media attention. Right now, Kirstie is slim again, having lost 50 pounds (22.6 kg) on the Jenny Craig weight loss program, her second partnership with the company.

She recently revealed that she was down to a size 6 to 8, and so happy she’s with the results that she jumped at the chance of pouring herself into a Victoria Beckham design for her appearance on ABC’s The View, as the video below can confirm.

New figure, new outlook, better health

That Kirstie Alley fits into a Victoria Beckham dress is kind of a big deal, because the former Posh Spice Girl turned fashion designer is (in)famous for her tendency to create designs only for likewise shaped women. And Victoria is a size 0, and has been for years.

However, as you can see in the video, Kirstie is still some way to actually being comfortable in the body-hugging dress, even admitting that she has trouble walking in it. She avoids Rosie O’Donnell’s first question, but it’s clear that she also has some trouble sitting down, because the dress cuts into her remaining curves in what could be deemed an unflattering way.

Still, Kirstie’s weight loss is impressive, especially if you think that her initial weight goal was almost half of what she actually achieved. She praises the Jenny Craig program for making amazing food, and says she would have never lost the extra pounds with another program.

Moreover, Kirstie is convinced that, this time, she’s done with yo-yo dieting for good. Asked about her trigger for overeating, she links it to problems in her love life: whenever she has her heart broken, she tends to turn to food for comfort.

The tabloids’ fascination with Kirstie Alley

More interestingly, the 63-year-old star also tries to find some explanation for the fascination the tabloids have with her weight gain and weight loss, which have landed her more cover than all her roles combined.

She believes (and Rosie agrees) that her story is relatable to people because she wasn’t always fat: she didn’t start having a real problem until she turned 53 and she turned to cooking copious amounts of food to get over a heartbreak.

So, if you do the math, she is quick to point out, even though it seems as if she’s been fat for ever, she only had this problem for a few years in a row.
